EDDM - Every Door Direct Mail - with Zipmapper

Every Door Direct Mail is a new service from the USPS which allows small businesses to mail to individual carrier routes (up to 5000 addresses per day). As a Zipmapper.com user, you have the perfect tool to target your carrier routes. You can zoom into the street level and select carrier route boundaries and then select indivdual routes to build a target area. Once you have your area defined - run a report by Carrier Route level detail and you will have your quantities. Remember you can only mail up to 5000 pieces in a day.

Here's the specifications on the EDDM program

You can get Mail Tubs at the post office to put your bundles into. Use one mail tub for each carrier route. So for example if you are mailing a route that has 320 pieces you will make 6 bundles of 50 pieces and one bundle of 20 pieces. You will need 7 facing slips. Mark each slip with the carrier route number and number the slips 1 of 7, 2 of 7, 3 of 7, etc and with the number of pieces in each bundle. Then put all the bundles in the tub for that carrier route.

Bring all the tubs and the postage form and your payment to the post office of the town where the mail will be going.

If you have any questions please email us at zipmapper@gmail.com AND if you need printing of your EDDM job we can handle that too. We have postcards, flyers and booklets that all meet the size requirements of EDDM and we can get you great prices on all our printing and mailing services.

Introduction Version 3 - Now LIVE!

The biggest change in the tool for this version is that the map is now "HOT". This means that if you zoom for example to the zip code level, you can click anywhere within the boundaries of a zip code and the mailing list count for that zip will load. You can then add as many different zips as you like simply by clicking on the map. You can also mix any geography from carrier routes to whole states. You can also toggle whether or not you want all possible addresses or if you want to limit to just homes, or businesses or apartments.

Building a mailing list by clicking on a map with geographic boundaries is fast and easy. Most people don't know all the zip codes and town names that are within their target area. And they certainly don't know the carrier route codes in their market. By using the map to choose your target area you don't need to know any zip codes or route numbers.

We are also improving the maps you can get with the system. There is unlimited downloads of 8 1/2 x 11 full color PDF maps with each six month subscription (subscriptions are $45 for each six months) and we now have quick links for high resolution digital maps or printed large format laminated maps that are available for sale. These high resolution maps measure 36" x 48" and show complete details including all boundaries and streets. You download a free sample map at zipmapper.com.

We will keep you posted for the release of version 3 and you will be able to do your first three searches for free once its released.

Thank you

ZipMapper.com New Features

For the first post of 2010 we are happy to announce new features for ZipMapper.com.

First, you can now order a subscription package right from the tool. Once you are logged in you will see a Subscriptions option on the top navigation bar. From the Subscriptions page, you can choose a monthly plan that gives you discounted mailing list pricing. Depending upon which plan you choose, you can get list pricing as low as 2/3 of a cent per name or just $67 for 10,000 records. The plans run on a month to month basis - so there is no annual committment. You can cancel any time.

Second, you can now order multiple saved counts into a combined mailing list. If you want to purchase a list for two or three different zips or radius' you can start with your first list and click the purchase list link, then add on using the check boxes, any other counts that you have saved. The counts are now numbered to make tracking them easier.

If you ever have any questions about any features of the ZipMapper.com tool or would like new features added, please call us at 866-697-6245 or email zipmapper@gmail.com - we want to hear all your comments.

Thank you and Happy New Year

Saturation Mail - The Least Expensive way to Mail

What is Saturation Mail (also known as an Occupant or Carrier Route List)?

Saturation mail is the least expensive way to reach a target geographic area. A Saturation or Occupant or Carrier Route mailing list is a list containing every possible delivery address within a particular letter carrier’s route. The lists available on ZIPMapper.com represent every household or business in a postal carrier’s route within the defined target area that you create on map.

Why does ZIPMapper.com rent saturation mailing lists?

Saturation mailing is the least expensive way to mail. Saturation mailings enable you to cost-effectively target entire neighborhoods within a ZIP®, radius or county. When you rent a list using ZIPMapper.com your mailing will qualify for enhanced carrier route bulk mail rates. ZIPMapper.com lists meet the following requirements of the USPS:

The mailing must follow the 90/75 Rule, which means you must mail to at least 90 percent of residential addresses, or at least 75 percent of the total number of residential and business addresses in a given carrier route.

The mailing must be sorted in “Walk Sequence” order – the actual sequence that the postal carrier walks their route.

Mailings that use saturation mailing lists save the USPS the most time, labor and money out of all the kinds of mail that can be sent. By pre-organizing your mailing in the exact order that each letter carrier delivers their mail the Postal Service can delivery your mailing faster and more cost-effectively. In return for making their job easier, the Postal Service provides dramatic discounts.

How much can I save with Saturation Mail?

Saturation Mail qualified for what are known as Enhanced Carrier Route rates. These rates can be achieved with mail pieces such as postcards, letters, booklets, brochures, catalogs ranging from 3 1/2” x 5” all the way up to pieces measuring 9” x 13”.

Saturation mailing rates beginning at $0.139 for letter-sized mailing that are brought to the local Sectional Mailing Facility for the addresses you are targeting. For mailing left at the post office where the mailing permit is the cost is $0.182 cents per piece. For non-profit organizations the cost is 7.2 cents less.

So, saturation mail is over 66% less expensive than the current 44 cent stamp!

How much are the saturation lists on ZIPMapper.com?

The lists on ZIPMapper.com start at 2 cents per address. However, if you sign up for a subscription plan, the cost can be as little as 2/3 of a cent per record. (There is a $50 minimum list order). Email us at zipmapper@gmail.com or goto
http://www.mmdirect.com/zipmapperplans.htm for more information on a subscription plan.

How does the Saturation Mailing process work?

The first step to doing a saturation mailing is to register and log-in to ZIPMapper.com. Once you log-in, you will need to input a starting address and then define your target area. Your mailing lists counts will automatically load and you can move around your center point marker and adjust your map however you choose. You can even fine tune your selection by going into the report settings and select or unselect individual carrier routes. Since our list costs are so low and the postal rates are much lower, you can buy a larger list and mail out more pieces. Or, you can target just a few neighborhoods at a time to help spread out your marketing budget over a few smaller mailings while still getting the super low postage rates. Remember the rates are based upon individual carrier routes which are only a few hundred homes each.

Can the people at ZIPMapper.com handle my whole mailing?

This has been an exciting week for ZipMapper.com. Today we completed phase 1 of the mapping tool. Some of the exciting features are:

  • The Free PDF Map now has the same look as the Google Map screen and is available in both 8 1/2 x 11 size and 11x17 size.
  • Overlays for zips and counties now show the zip codes and county names.
  • Each section has its own help menu with a [?] hyperlink.
  • Added links for both purchase history where your lists and maps are saved.
  • Added a link to email you back your password if you forgot it.
  • Added this blog as a link from the mapping tool.
  • Reports that you download now have the name of your saved search associated with them.
  • Added the view cart link to the map tool so if you add something to your cart you can continue making maps and then check out later.
We are currently checking all these features to make sure they are all working properly. Please leave feedback on our blog if you find any errors or have any questions or comments.

Everyone at ZipMapper.com is excited about this new tool and we need as much input as possible from our users to make sure it reaches its full potential for both geospacial research and doing list counts.
